Watching that kind of crap has always amazed me. Because for most people, me included, the pavement is the ground, the abstract plane on which everything rests.
Not so for the people with the right tools! The pavement is just another malleable medium, like clay or pipe cleaners.

Yeah, exactly! Those guys are thinking three dimensionally about the area beneath my street.
Talking to someone the other day, I compared it to dealing with the stereo cables (but on a civic scale).
