That's pretty good for a Mr. Bean movie, isn't it? His first movie has always typified a certain phenomenon for me: when a flick's buzz is about how popular it is all over Europe and England and then the U.S. decides to tank it.

The nerd high schoolers of the Judd Apatow-produced comedy retained the top spot of the box office for a second straight weekend, pulling in $18 million, according to studio estimates from box office analysts Nielsen EDI.
The $20 million movie, starring Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, has done $68.6 million in 10 days.
"We're on our way to $100 million, and would have been happy with half of that," says Rory Bruer, distribution chief for Sony Pictures, which released Superbad. "Judd (who directed The 40 Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up) doesn't repeat himself with his comedies, which is why they do so well on their own."

Among the newcomers, Mr. Bean's Holiday came in at No. 4 with $10.1 million, while Jet Li's War was No. 5 with $10 million. Ticket sales dipped 21% from last weekend, but surged 12% over the same weekend last year. Final figures are due Monday.
