I'd never heard of it either. In my fifth grade class we listened to "The Tell-tale heart" on an audio cassette recording...boy do I feel jipped.

Gorgeous! My favorite part was when the old man's eye turned into the image of the decaying moon. I saw more Dali than De Chirico in this, but then again I'm not as big a fan of De Chirico. Selective influence-spotting.

He almost gets away with it, too. But then he asks the cops to stay. Poe has another very similar story called The Imp of the Perverse, in which a murderer goes into great lengths about the natural self-destructive force that is said Imp. This because he blows his cool in the same way as James Mason here. Stupid Imp.
