The film follows Gilderoy, a shy and awkward sound operator who has been hired to do the soundtracks for an Italian Giallo in the 70s. He is used to doing nature films and such and his discomfort with the subject matter of the film is apparent from the very first scene. We never actually see any of the film only the actors in the sound booth and the soundmen working. Gilderoy is horribly homesick and uncomfortable. He is disturbed by the film and doesn't understand the language which makes it even more awkward for him, he just wants to go home. As time passes his mental state begins to break down and the lines between reality and his warped imagination become blurred as he goes mad.

Let me first say that I did not care for this film but some may feel
differently. It's extremely slow-moving and very artsy, filled with
suggestive sounds and body language rather than being direct. To be quite frank,
I found the film to be boring for the most part. The most interesting part of
the film was watching what they used to make certain sounds for the movie they
were working on. My suggestion is skip it unless you have insomnia and need a
little help getting to sleep.
