I hear you on the 8mm film - definitely anachronistic. Chris Pine is younger than me, and I've never seen an 8mm video camera.

However, as a horror film device, 8mm filmstrip is SO much creepier than a bad VHS. This was used so well in the orphanage, when we saw the old 8mm filmstrip of the deformed boy playing with/without mask. Very effective.

I have a friend who has a Super 8 camera and he took footage of his two-year-old son with it. So he has footage that looks like it's from the '70's but his kid was born in 2007. So there.

Great review, dude! You're kinda on fire today. Looking at that Planes & Trains pic I can imagine they're hauling a body in that trunk.
