Whew, I can finally check the blog without having to look at Tara Reid pretending to be smart. Of course, Rat Face isn't much better.

The more I think about it, the more I liked Argento's Masters of Horrors submission - Jenifer. The effects were very convincing. And at the time, I think I completely missed the point that Jenifer represents the monster created by the stupid horny man. I think I'm gonna bump my rating up a half star. Yeah, that's exactly what I'm gonna do.

"The Masters of Horror series was conceptualized to showcase the 'Masters', yet I fear that this series is having the opposite effect."

That's really too bad, especially when "made for cable" no longer translates into "crap."

It's also too bad that Lovecraft on film is such a dicey prospect. Something he was always able to achieve as a writer was invoke feelings of otherworldliness that were all his own, even when the usual trappings of churchy/Satany stuff might be present. On film, however, it often winds up seeming like just another devil worshipping scenario.

The Reanimator movies are great, but for me Dagon really stands out as the most faithful to the Lovecraft vibe.
