"The dreadful The Keep?" What the hell! I like that movie.

I have to admit this movie interests me since I didn't like Mann's thing back then and I like it now. Because his thing got a lot better.

Lotsa handheld camera stuff, though...always a potential dealbreaker for me. I'm worried about Casino Royale for the same reason.

I know, I love The Keep! I even have that T-Dream soundtrack on cassette somewhere.

I was always abit sad that you didn't embrace Vice. For sure it had it's share of really crappy episodes, but there are probably 10 really good episodes that I hope to show you some day.

I'm looking forward to this because it's Michael Mann. I don't think his thing changed so much as EVERYTHING ELSE changed. I saw "Manhunter" again recently and was amazed that it's the same cinematographer as Heat, and it looks great! Everyone says "so 'eighties; out of date" about this stuff but it's just such a shallow critique. The neckties and sideburns and the synth music are from the period but there's absolutely nothing wrong with the filmmaking.

Well put, Jordan.

I hate 80s bashing on principal. I'd take the 80s over the 90s grunge style any day.

Manhunter is great! Much better than Red Dragon. It also introduced me to the band Shriekback.
