Thanks for this post.

The Newtown tragedy has been on my mind a bunch in the last week. While I'm living 3,000 miles away in Portland, Oregon, I'm familiar with Newtown because I lived in both Southbury and Oxford to the east. Newtown was where my local comics store was, and when I was a teen I would ride my bike the 6 1/2 miles from Southbury to Newtown, right past where the tragedy happened.

And the bitter irony of it all as the Sandy Hook shooting came just three days after the Clackamas Town Center shooting outside Portland. (And on top of that, a graduate of Pomperaug High School, the school in Southbury, was on a bike tour and managed to get shot in the Aurora, Colorado shooting. Thankfully he survived.)

I never thought a place like Newtown could be the site of such a tragedy. My heart goes out to them.

Sorry for the incident that happened in your lovely town. Nevertheless, it is still a better place to live in especially if you'll get to enjoy your passion like biking. All the best for Newtown.
