i commuted this morning via the 3speed, which now actually has 3 working speeds! much better up hills now, as i was stuck in high. it was geared like my fixie...but double the weight! and hadnles like a station wagon!

His prancing about at the convention is beyond the pale. If I see him I will run over him with my BIKE!
Speaking of bikes, rode fixed gear with Sheldon Brown's magic ratio to work this morning and it was much better than spin class!
I am getting much better at going down hills, too. It's all in the set up. As long as I don't hit the crest going too fast I can descend without going crazy fast by back pressuring the pedals.
Still using the brake from time to time but just enough to check my speed. I think Friday, I am going to try the 30 miler round trip commute. Bread and Butter ride (shortest route from home to work and back home again) is 20 miles.
I think my next fixie might just have to be a one brake jobbie.

Of course, if you take his line of thinking, then we are F'ed. Who knows, maybe Obama will bring some change - I certainly hope so. I hope he wins because if not, then it's 4 more years of the same old, same old.

As a former CT boy, I was not surprised to see Joe make the jump. He is closer to Giuliani than Schumer, and I don't see how he betrayed his constituents. He made clear his support of the war during his previous election run.

I am not a NEMBA member, but not because I don't want to be. I just can't figure out what they're doing in the Hartford area. I've heard rumors that they're around, but that's it.
NEMBA is working on the possibility of a pump track somewhere along the river and downtown.
In WH, a few of our members are really active with the MDC and ensuring that MTB is accessible at the Rez.
Next year I think we'll finally have some penetration at Case.
And that's just in the Hartford Area.
If you are interested, come out to Grayville Falls Park in Hebron on 9/21 for the Fall Fiesta. I will be putting up some details on the the Snack soon.
I'm pretty far removed from the mountain bike community in Hartford. Everyone I know seems to stick the road. I follow the rules when I go to the rez, Penwood, or Case. Nashahegan (sp?) and Neapaug are too far out for me. Neapaug almost seems like it's just for freeriders now anyway.

I'd definitely be interested in learning more about what is planned to do along the river. There's some unimproved and crappy singletrack right now, but nothing that's really worth riding.

So I'll be honest that this has nothing to do with bicycling (besides perhaps just doing the right thing) but I'm too furious and embarrassed not to make this post. I'm not a lawyer or constitutional historian but the little research I've done has shown that it is not possible to impeach a state senator but regardless I would like to make the initial steps towards a demonstrative impeachment of Senator Joe Lieberman. If any of you watched the Republican National Convention tonight you saw a Connecticut Congressman who has clearly separated himself from the interests of his own state and who has leeched himself into the flesh of a failed and floundering Republican constituency. This post is a call to all of you who may have the skills, knowledge, connections, and drive which might make it possible to petition for the impeachment of Lieberman if only it is a fleeting demonstration of our dissatisfaction.
Just now im watching as St. Paul police tear gas protesters, not a good finish to the evening.
Make your comments and voice your dissatisfaction for Joe Liarman!!!!
