Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur's Lai Po Heen is in this year's MIGF 2011 - and this year, they present their new Executive Chinese Chef Ricky Thein as well. Chef Ricky - yes, some of you may have met him and seen him before, and he had previously won the Award of Excellence at MIGF 2007 as well as MIGF 2009 before. [Image]Lai Po Heen is the premium Chinese restaurant in Mandarin Oriental KL, and its internal setting is rather suitable for the cuisine - with some antique furniture from Melaka, and architecture reminiscent of old Shanghai. =) Anyways, what is in Lai Po Heen's Festival Dinner menu? [Image]Chilled vinaigrette scented cucumber roll, roasted duck yam puff with braised whole baby abalone. Already sounding a mouthful - and I love my yam... [Image]As for soup - there's the Cantonese styled braised sea treasures (comprising fish maw, sea cucumbers and so on), shark's fin in a cute golden melon in supreme broth. The ideal soup to start your meal and get your taste buds running! [Image]...then came the main course. If you like tong poh yoke - you will like this. This is the tong poh style barbecue scented lamb ribs with Chinese pear, sitting on top of the wok-fried Hong Kong baby 'siew pak choy'. [Image]To fill up your tummy further, there's also the crispy egg noodles, blue river prawn, prawn roe and egg gravy... [Image]As for dessert, Chef Ricky compiled the purple sweet dumpling in vanilla sauce, the sweetened jelly with osmanthus, chilled with sage in lemon syrup and the trio of sweet potatoes just to end your meal perfectly. =P All this - are priced at RM 228++ per person (without wine).
