Went to Chinatown Point today with parents to have lunch and jalan, as today is a public holiday (Vesak Day)... Decided to went to Luk Yu Teahouse to try their dim sum... Luckily can still find a table as most tables seem to have been reserved... A bit disappointed by the level of service (non-sincere response, though quite prompt, and also keeps making admin mistake) and quality of food... Maybe is because of the large crowd... or maybe my expectation (of the food quality) is set too high...
Soybean Skin Wrap with Shrimp - eh... crispy is crispy.. not too bad... [Image]
Black Truffle Crystal Dumpling - hmm... filling is pumpkin and supposedly with black truffle... but no black truffle in my piece leh... [Image]
Small Steam Basket Dumplings - same 'pork smell'... but if you like garlic, you will love this version, the garlic smell is quite strong when you poke open the skin... quite nice, quite nice! Oh, the vinegar they mix the ginger strips in is good too! [Image]
Custard Bun - Nice dessert! The salted egg custard filling has a saltish-sweetish taste, a good mix, especially when hot. Be careful to eat it slowly, they are served VERY HOT!... Don't eat too much though, you might find it a bit too strong... [Image]
We then went to shop in Daiso, for a surprising 2 hours approximately, hahahaha...
After that, we went to have "high-tea"... well, actually, should be "high-coffee"... Tried out the Hill Street Coffee Shop... and was not too disappointed... Ambiance is quite nostalgic... [Image]
Steamed Bread with Kaya and Butter - a very familiar taste, but seldom found in the new kopi tiams nowadays... bread becomes soft after steaming, and texture becomes good... [Image]
We also ordered the Laksa and Mee Rebus... [Image]
Laksa is not so good... A bit too sweet, and ... hmm... in short, no laksa taste... But portion is large... [Image]
Mee Rebus is not bad! Quite good! Suspect is also partly because of the plentiful chopped peanuts they used in the gravy... A pity did not add dark soy sauce, if not will be perfect. The noodles are also cooked thoroughly without over-cooking, good skills... [Image]
