Introduction Keith Baker was sworn in as Chaffee County commissioner in January 2017 and re-elected to a second four-year term in 2020. Before settling in Buena Vista, Colorado, he served as a career U.S. Navy officer, retiring with the rank of commander. Keith served in a variety of at-sea and shore staff assignments during his Navy career. He owned and operated The Trailhead and Trailhead Cycle & Ski in Buena Vista for over nine years, and has been a leader in numerous civic organizations in Chaffee County. Before election to county commissioner, Baker served eight years as a Buena Vista town trustee. He holds BA from Mercer University, an MA in International Relations from Alliant International University, is a distinguished graduate of U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and a graduate of Joint Forces Staff College. He is a graduate of U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College, where he served on the faculty in a Ph.D. billet. Marine Command and Staff College and Air Command and Staff College now confer master's degrees for the courses Keith completed there.
