Introduction I'm a guy like most, though quite a bit stranger than some—more than a few of my friends call me crazy, but I think that's more an issue of Catch-22 (I asked Doc Daneeka about it, and he said I'm not) than anything else. In my day job I teach English composition and literature at a local community college. I've been writing stories for about as long as I can remember, though in the last few years I've stepped that up to levels to match my aspirations of becoming a professional writer. I've always had an interest in fantasy fiction, even writing numerous stories and attempting a novel on more than one occasion. Recently I've added in a good amount of science fiction (Yes, I am nuts about Star Trek, particularly Next Generation and Deep Space Nine) and more than a little mystery. I don't seem much for cozy mysteries, instead focusing on the hard-boiled variety that Hammett and Chandler brought to life. Something clicked in me as I began to write a story about a hard-boiled paranormal detective. From there I kept writing, and writing, and writing. My Matt Allen novels and stories are far from my first stories and books, but I certainly feel they are my best.
