Introduction	I am a poet (my most recent book--White Panties, Dead Friends and Other Bits & Pieces of Love--hence the title of my personal blog). I started blogging because I felt I was slacking off on my writing, and so blogging became a way for me to think. Also, I am a co-publisher with my wife Lee and son John of Cinco Puntos Press in El Paso. Publishing is something that Lee and I fell into by chance and necessity. We needed to make a living. We didn't work for the man anymore. That said, it has become an important ingredient in our intellectual and imaginative lives as writers. I have I co-edited with John Byrd Puro Border: Dispatches, Graffiti and Snapshots from the U.S./Mexico Border, and I continue to study and write about border issues when the urge moves me. I have co-edited, again with son John, an anthology of Texas crime fiction Lone Star Noir for the Akashic Books Noir Series which will be out in 2010.
