Introduction | I'm a west coast multimedia artist. I range from designing rugs and hangings, to sculpting steampunk figures and fashioning individual pieces of jewelry. I also make pine needle baskets and use inclusions of bone, metal and sea glass. As you can see, my muse takes me in a lot of different directions but happily, they can overlap in a way that enhances each piece. |
Interests | Rug hooking, polymer clay, pine needle basketry, writing, and science fiction. |
Favorite Movies | Old monster movies, ( no slashers), really bad old sci. fi., Poirot, and NO movies of the week. |
Favorite Music | I hate whiney chick ballads. "Smash Mouth", "Mercy Me", and "Bryan Duncan" are what's in the car. I like songs that make me jump up and dance. It can be so embarrassing in the grocery store. Bananarama's "Venus" has caused my son untold humiliation. |
Favorite Books | Science fiction, comic strip books (Sherman's Lagoon, Dilbert), author Dave Barry, Russian literature (classic and modern), social history (not to be confused with Socialist history), theology and Egyptology. |
Q:What's with the name "What box?" design? A:I find that artists seem to fall into three different types. There are people who flourish with a set pattern and like to recreate a certain image. Other people are said to think "outside of the box". There is also a third group that has no idea there is a box. I think I fall into this group.
