Introduction I would like to help set up a blog for Catholics pondering the various deep points being made, from week to week, by social commentator John Michael Greer at http://thearchdruidreport.blogspot.com. Mr Greer has an interest, relevant to the practical Catholic, in the social changes we shall be facing as climate change and fossil-fuel depletion cause our industrial civilization to decline. I for my part think of it like this, that we are living in something like Imperial Rome - not, as yet, in the full horror of 410 A.D. as witnessed by the aging Saint Augustine, but already in the unhappy years of Saint Augustine's youth. - I am also keen to discuss duties of Catholic service in astronomy, maths, physics, and ham radio. (I hold callsign VA3KMZ. I copy CW at approx 15 wpm. I have some ancient gear collected, but as yet not refurbished, for an eventual ham-radio shack.)
Interests Catholic life (including Catholic Worker movement), multivariate calculus (including use of Alonzo Church's functional-abstraction notation to promote rigour), electromagnetic theory up to basic Maxwell (for radio-propagation-through-vacuum), stellar spectroscopy, conservation of David Dunlap Observatory heritage, GNU/Linux, Latin, Estonian history and politics, Estonian literature and cinema, impending decline of industrial civilization
Favorite Movies 'Siin Me Oleme' (Soviet Estonian comedy, 1979), 'First of the Few' (1942 UK), the 1980s BBC serializations of 'TInker Tailor Soldier Spy' and 'Smiley's People', the 1980s-1990s Granada television Sherlock Holmes dramatizations
