| Introduction | Am I a reader? I devour books- breaking spines, bending covers, folding pages, making notes and underlines in pen. Fiction, memoir, poetry, classics- all have power to hold me in their thrall. I dive in headfirst without a moment to draw breath and do not emerge until I have been completely immersed, changed, touched, rattled to my core with new approximations of ever-elusive, usually-bromidic truth, beauty, emotion and (if I may be so trite) love.
