Introduction I’m a thirty-seven year young woman who was diagnosed with cancer, Acute Mylogeneous Leukemia, March 31st, 2006 at the age of 33. I went through several rounds of chemo as well as a bone marrow transplant from my brother, thanks Dave! and am now struggling with recovery. I live with post treatment complications including menopause and graft vs host disease from the transplant. With the 61% percent chance I was given of living five years post transplant I am ultra aware that each minute is a borrowed one and that living can be a glorious challenge. I write this chronicle of my life to prove that cancer CAN be beaten, it's NOT like getting over a cold and that life is worth persevering even in the worst of circumstances. I often find that I need to prove this to myself. I am an artist and I use my creativity as my coping mechanism. I've done a lot of photo documentation of my body through the transplant and recovery process. More than anything I just want to be normal again but I also realize that my normal must be re defined. Nothing redefines you like cancer. If you have been diagnosed with cancer, know this…I BELIEVE in you. I KNOW you can beat this disease.
