Introduction | I grew up in a family where food has always taken center stage. There was much vigorous debate on what and where to eat. We would take long drives to the "ends of the world" to have that half-hour of culinary satisfaction. Apparently the long drive and the remoteness of the place whets the appetite. My extended family made the festivities something to look forward to. The food was always good. The women got together to create gastronomical delights from family recipes passed down by memory. There were no exact measurements for the ingredients but the results were exact. I look back with fond memories to a different place and time. Today, I am a stay-home mom with two teenage boys and a hubby who are very appreciative of my culinary efforts. I enjoy cooking and trying out new recipes. With international travel, our palates have widen considerably. I try to recreate some of the delectable foods we encountered and many have become family favorites. I also try to recreate some of those treasured family recipes. As we embark on this culinary experience together, I hope to record these recipes before they become "extinct". |
