| Introduction | I wrote Doubt: A History and 4 other books. I have a PhD in History from Columbia Univ. and was a professor of history. Now I teach Poetry and Philosophy in the Graduate Writing Program at the New School and the MFA program at Columbia University. I live in Brooklyn, have a five year old girl and a seven year old boy, and husband games and puzzles guy John Chaneski. I've got five books, three are history and philosophy: *The End of the Soul (Columbia Univ., 2003) *Doubt: A History (Harper One, 2003,) *The Happiness Myth (Harper One, 2007) and two poetry books: *The Next Ancient World (Tupelo, 2001) *Funny (University of Wisconsin Press, 2005). I write poetry, essays, and reviews for The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, and others. Also, I have purple brown hair.
