Introduction My approach to learning about the natural world has been rather specific. That is, I tend to focus on the area within walking distance from where I live, attempting to acquaint myself with the wildlife and plants that occupy (or pass through) the area. I've been a resident of the historic town of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia since 2001, and the Annapolis Royal Marsh is well within walking distance of my home. I've walked the French Basin Trail around this marsh almost on a daily basis, weather permitting, since it was created in 2002. As the wildlife population of the marsh and its surroundings grew, so did my curiosity about its inhabitants. Five years ago I started taking my camera with me to record what I was seeing. I finally decided to create a vehicle through which I (hopefully) could, through my photos, bring people into the animals' world, creating a connection between the viewer and the subject. It's this connection which I feel has been lost to a great extent, leading to a lack of concern for the welfare of the natural world. This blog is the result.
