Introduction I live at the end of Monterey Lane. I believe the water tables began rising when University Place closed 3 water wells and began obtaining their water from the City of Tacoma. All that water from the wells had to go somewhere. As this area used to be a spring fed lake, the ground is once again becoming soggy in certain areas. This appears to be one of those areas. Currently, standing water is up to 12" deep in my backyard. I have over 150' of drain pipe, a sump pump, and a drain field to route the water. My backyard is ruined, to the tune of several thousand dollars. It's estimated, by the company which installed my drain field, that I'm discharging approximately 27,000 gallons per day into the storm drainage system. Don't let this happen to you. It's only going to get worse. The City of Fircrest has been notified several times, by myself and various neighbors, and the City of Fircrest chooses to do nothing.
