| Introduction | Jennifer Salvato Doktorski is the author of four young adult novels: HOW MY SUMMER WENT UP IN FLAMES (Simon Pulse); FAMOUS LAST WORDS (Henry Holt and Company), a Bank Street College Best Children's Book of the Year for 2014; THE SUMMER AFTER YOU & ME (Sourcebooks Fire), a YALSA Teens' Top Ten nominee; and AUGUST & EVERYTHING AFTER (May 1, 2018). As a freelance nonfiction writer she has published articles and essays in national magazines including Cosmopolitan. Her first paid writing gig was at The North Jersey Herald & News, where she wrote obituaries and began her lifelong love of news and coffee. She lives with her family in New Jersey and spends summers "down the shore," where everything is always all right.
