Introduction After spending 18 years in Alaska, successfully and passionately working as an educational psychologist, I moved to rural Utah. Eight months later I was involved in a work-related auto accident that left me with a “mild traumatic brain injury.” The first thing I learned is that “mild TBI” is an oxymoron. Nothing is mild when it comes to wrecking your brain. In the last five years I’ve learned a lot about the subtle and not-so-subtle cognitive and behavioral changes that accompany an entirely uninvited, and less-than-welcomed, head injury. Mostly I’ve learned about panache and how the lack of it dramatically affects one’s ability to passionately advocate for causes dear to the heart. In my case, the cause of children with special needs. I really didn’t understand how and why my entire life fell apart, and so I started to write about the whole series of events that occurred. To my surprise, it turned into a book! Check it out if you want to know more about me—it’s a much more interesting synopsis than I can articulate here!:-)
