| Introduction | Hi, I am so glad you stopped by! I am Sandra, a retired former business owner, mother of five grown children. You can imagine how busy I was before I retired, never any time to do the things I longed to do, such as learn to build things, transform junk into something beautiful, make my house into the haven I wanted it to be. Now, I have time! Alas, there is almost no money, but that is not going to stop me. |
| Interests | I came from a poor family, with a mother and grandmother who could make a delicious meal out of almost nothing, never minded getting their hands dirty, and didn't know the meaning of the word "can't". My granny was the most amazing woman I ever met. She made the most beautiful quilts and needlework (a talent I did NOT inherit), knew the words to every old ballad she had ever heard, built her own tables and cabinets, reupholstered her own furniture, grew gardens you wouldn't believe, canned and preserved every thing she could get her hands on, kept a spotless house, and whistled like a man while she was doing it. She talked to the Lord as if talking to her best friend (which she was), AND she buried two children and raised eight, mostly as a widow. I do not expect to carry on the torch for my granny, but I am trying to live the way she lived, create the warm and cozy home she shared with anyone who cared to stop by, and do it as frugally as she did. I am coming rather late to the do-it-myself adventure, but I am learning as I go. I hope you will join me, you are most welcome. Come by any time, I will leave the light on for you, and if the door is locked, the key is under the mat. Blessings! |
