| Introduction | Why write a blog about missionaries? Too often Independent Baptists meet missionaries when they visit church on Sunday or Wednesday, or chat with them during Mission Conference but that’s it. The rest of the time missionaries are “out of sight, out of mind.” We have enough to do with work, school, church, choir practice and visitation. We write a figure on the Faith Promise card, but I wonder - is done as an obligation or a privilege? I wasn’t raised in a mission-minded church, but God in His Goodness let me marry a wonderful woman who lived 10 years on the field of Monterrey, Mexico. I began to learn more about missions and the great work these men women and children do to fulfill the Great Commission around the world. I have grown to appreciate the commitment required to be a missionary and my admiration for them grows daily. Please spend time visiting the missionaries featured here. Look at what they’re doing on their chosen fields and the sacrifices they have made to fulfill the call of God on their lives. My prayer is that this blog will open your eyes to missions and that you will dedicate yourself to pray more, give more - and maybe go to the “uttermost part of the earth.” |
