Introduction Ivan Matfeevich Rezansky is an 11-century Rus' boyar and artisan, living in the grand city of Kiev. He is a patron of the relatively new Orthodox Christian religion that was accepted by Rus' in 988, and helps facilitate the building and decoration of new cathedrals and monasteries. He is a member of the SCA's Order of the Laurel for his study of Russian Art and Embroidery. John Beebe (Ivan's modern-day counterpart) has been a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism for over 20 years, starting in the Kingdom of Northshield, and now living in the Canton of the Towers in northeast Massachusetts.
