Introduction Gallery Ü was a commercial grassroots gallery founded 2002 by Patsy Kline and was situated in the growing gallery community of the Colonial Marketplace ARTcade in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. The purpose of the gallery was to provide a welcoming venue for those interested in viewing and collecting contemporary art while supporting the development of a Cleveland’s first indoor gallery district. When the gallery lost their lease to a developer it moved into a rented U-Haul truck to show where art goes after being used as an economic engine. Gallery Ü showcased contemporary artists of diverse backgrounds and in varying career stages. The gallery presented art that was stimulating — art that generated growth, narrated the emotional expressions of the unconscious, fostered change and encouraged creativity. Music, dance and performance were included on opening nights creating a multisensory event unique to the artwork exhibited. Gallery Ü built alliances with national and international galleries such as the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University in New York, Cleveland State University Art Gallery, Lazzaro Signature Gallery in Madison, Wisconsin.
