Introduction | I live in Fircrest, WA, married, 5 stepchildren who I'm mighty fond of, and 6 granddaughters who I extremely fond of. I write books, magazine articles, white papers, documentation, online help... most anything, even buttons for a button company. I've published about 8 million, which is quite a pile. We have two cats, a 17yo tabby/Siamese mix and an 18-pound black cat who's fairly obnoxious. The Babe and I play a lot of gin rummy together at restaurants and we bowl. All this may sound disgustingly humdrum, but I'm just giving you the few points of contact with a consensual normalcy amidst a backdrop of periodic chaos and excitement with travel, conferences, and cruises to exotic foreign shores. |
Interests | writing, publishing, speaking, training, author, STC, Eugene, banjo, writer, barbershop, SPEBSQSA, technical writer, non-fiction, books, computer books, cats, singing, folk music, Sahuaro High School, Tucson, Seattle, ham radio, blog, blogging, Coney Island Washboard |
Favorite Movies | (in no particular order) "All of Me" "Dr. Strangelove" "Victor/Victoria" "Barbarians at the Gate" "The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T" |
Favorite Music | All sorts of stuff but it's only a rare bit of rap that I like. Rap's about anger and frustration--just like a lot of classic rock-and-roll was--but I think that my increasing deafness is making it hard to hear the lyrics that are vital to rap. |
Favorite Books | Anything by Terry Pratchett. Carl Hiassen, who's as crazy as his work buddie, Dave Barry. The Uncle John's Bathroom Readers from the Bathroom Research Institute. I'm also pleased with many of my books (but I wouldn't ever call them a "cracking good late-night read"). |
You moved the pot before the coffee stopped brewing. Do you smell the mountains or the burro?
I always move the pot before the coffee stops brewing. It's called "getting the first cup." It smells like the mountains and DAYUMN it makes the day better!
