About me

Occupation writer
Introduction I'm writer in residence of the Hermitage of the Three Holy Hierarchs, author of three books of poetry (all out with Bloodaxe Books), and the non fiction story of my conversion from atheism to Catholicism, Night's Bright Darkness (Ignatius Press). I also write articles and meditations (previously for The Tablet, more recently for Magnificat). I'm a mother, wife and very happy Catholic convert. I was born in 1971 in the UK and worked for a time as a psychiatric nurse in London before taking a year in South Dakota to write. After that I met my husband and followed him to Sardinia and then to Rome, where we now live, by the sea. I'm usually happy to speak-- on conversion, writing, the importance of the Eucharist. Anything that places Christ at the centre of what we are and what we do. My poems can be heard at the UK poetry archive https://www.poetryarchive.org/poet/sally-read, and there are usually some up at the Hermitage site, the Asketerion (www.asketerion.com), or here. I love to hear from readers. At the Hermitage we also take prayer requests and are industrious in our petitions. Thanks for visiting!
