Introduction	From folk and psychedelic bands, I studied operatic voice. A jazz workshop became Upepo, a mix of jazz, Latin and Middle Eastern; I sang with them 3-1/2 years. In 1978, I moved to New York City, singing at a Harlem nightspot, the Red Rooster, with trumpeter Bucky Thorpe, Don Pullen on B-3; drummer Bobby Battle, and guitarists Roland Prince and Ted Dunbar. I was in Joy Spring, four bebop voices, was in the Barry Harris chorus, and sang in a gospel choir conducted by Professor Boatner and in a chorus conducted by Coleridge Taylor Perkinson. In 1984, I was one several "American Song Stylists" at St. Peters with singers including Shirley Horn, produced by Steve Getz. For five years in NYC, I worked at United Entertainment Complex, a booking agency representing McCoy Tyner, Max Roach, Ornette Coleman, Ahmad Jamal and others. I returned to the Northwest in 1985 and become a reporter, then managing editor of a weekly newspaper. I spent time in Alaska working at remote resorts, returning in 1997 to edit the newspaper where I worked a total of 17 years. In retirement, I have returned to playing more music and making art.
