About me

Gender Male
Occupation D.Phil. student, Archaeology; University of Oxford
Introduction My research focuses on doors and closure systems in the Hellenistic and Roman Mediterranean, and on Pompeii and the Vesuvian sites in particular, where I've spent the past decade working with several excavation and post-excavation projects, in addition to my own personal research (since 2005, the 'Threshold Research Project') on the closure systems of the towns' domestic, commercial, and civic/religious spaces. From summer 2013, I am also involved with the Oplontis Project, studying the doors, fittings, and plaster casts of 'Villa A'.
Interests The Archaeology of Campania and the Vesuvian Sites, Doors, Thresholds and Closure Systems in the Roman World, Urban Peripheries and the Non-Agricultural Uses of Extra-Urban Space
