Introduction I am the At-large Councilwoman for the Second and Third Wards of Plainfield. A longtime resident and activist, I am one of the founding members of the New Democrats for Plainfield. I am also a founding member of the Progressive Democrats of America--NJ Chapter, and a member of the ACLU. I am an elected member of the Plainfield Democratic City Committee for the 2nd Ward, 9th District, and was elected by the 2nd Ward committee as Ward Leader. Professionally, I am a full-time college professor at Essex County College, teaching American literature, African American literature, and Developmental Reading and Writing. I am also a doctoral student at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. I am a member of many organizations in my field, including the National Council of Teachers of English, the Modern Language Association, the American Humor Studies Association, and the Africana Studies Group and English Student Association of GC-CUNY.
