| Introduction | A retired Structural engineer, whose parents hail from Palakkad District of Kerala, born in Mumbai, educated in Mumbai(high school) , Rajasthan (engineering degree from BITS Pilani) and UP (Master's degree from University of Roorkee) and now settled in Karnataka for the past 38 years. Have served in a Central Govt owned Consulting and contracting organisation for 26 years, quit as Deputy General Manager, worked as General manager in a Private Software and KPO company for 3 years, quit and then set up, owned and managed a new KPO organisation for 5 years, sold it later and continued as a consultant till March 31 2012. Now leading a retired life. Married to a former Bank employee (now retired) and father of a daughter married and settled in California and an unmarried son who was elected as one of India's Rhodes scholars, in 2007 proceeded to Oxford University, and obtained his graduate, masters and Doctorate degree at Oxford and is currently teaching at Cambridge University., UK. |
| Interests | Reading, internet browsing and net socializing, movies and traveling and listening to classical music and old film music. Experimenting with various freely downloadable software packages for various applications. Member of several on-line professional, cultural and community forums. A reader of many blogs in English and Hindi, and a frequent commenter on some selected blogs. |
| Favorite Movies | Mackenna's Gold, Taare Zameen Par, Lage Raho Munna bhai, Paa, 3 Idiots, Chak De India, and many more. Too many to list. Easy to please as regards movies. I don't like the "dishoom dishoom" movies and action movies. Chupke Chupke and many of Hrishida's movies are special favourites. Was a great fan of Jaya Bhaduri, Deepti Naval during younger days. | Favorite Music | Classical Carnatic Music (both vocal and instrumental) and Instrumental Hindusthani music. Ronu Mazumdar and Praveen Godkhindi (Flute), Kunnakudi Vaidyanaathan (Violin) and Kadri Gopalnaath (Saxophone), Ustaad Bismillah Khan on the Shehnai are my personal favourites. I also listen to and enjoy Old Film songs composed during the 1950s to 1970. Cannot appreciate western Rock/Pop music or Indian film music of Music Directors like Bhappi Lahiri and similar Music directors. |
| Favorite Books | Too many to list here. Am a voracious reader. Have read thousands of books in my lifetime and am an avid collector of books. Most of my reading is in English but I also read in Hindi. |
