| Introduction | My husband, an Englishman, and I are moving back to the land of his birth. He hasn't lived there in 14 years. I haven't lived there ... ever. I have this idealized impression of what living in the UK will be like: lengthy history, beautiful landscapes, phenomenal architecture, country pubs, outrageous media, stiff upper lips, ubiquitous literature, and gruesome murders in idyllic villages.
