Introduction | I am perpetually falling in love with our 3 ridge-top acres in the Santa Cruz mountains about six miles inland and north of Soquel/Santa Cruz. We're in a mild microclimate - USDA Zone 9, Sunset zone 16 (coastal/banana belt) with chaparral, mixed evergreen forest, and redwood habitats to cherish and protect. I am ever learning about our local native flora, and hoping not to burn to bits in a wildfire, or fall off the ridge in an earthquake, or get eaten by a mountain lion. I retired from tech writing June of 2012 to devote more time to family, to habitat restoration, and to writing of different types. I've had several articles published in the Santa Cruz Sentinel. I am myself a transplant - from Scotland. |
