Introduction Garrett was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome. Even though having no cheek bones, no middle ear, underdeveloped jaw and outer ears might sound daunting, his case is still considered mild to moderate, and for that we are eternally grateful. We’re optimistically confident he will never have to live with a tracheostomy or feeding tube and now that he has such an amazing hearing aid, I’ll have to start keeping a lid on his two older siblings during nap time. He is a happy, gentle, observant, laid back baby and we can’t wait to watch him grow up big and strong… so he can mow the yard.

One thing I would like everyone to understand; TCS has no effect on cognitive capacity. The only developmental delays that may occur will be due to hearing impairment but, even if that delay happens, they generally catch up by elementary school. And with genius parents like us, I’m sure Garrett will become the youngest member of Mensa.
