Introduction I cook because I love to make things, and edible is the best adjective a noun could hope to have. I don't like cooking magazines that turn food into a fetish, a status symbol or an accessory. Food shouldn't be an accessory. It should be what feeds you. Also, I'm a poet. You can read my poems in Best New Poets 2011, Poetry Northwest, Bateau, Crab Creek Review, Smartish Pace, a River and Sound Review, and other journals. In 2010 I was awarded a grant from 4Culture, a Soapstone residency, and a Shotpouch Creek residency, and I became an associate poetry editor for a handmade literary journal called Filter. My commentary about food and literature was featured on 94.9 KUOW, and my peach ginger pie won Best in Show at Cakespy's Cake vs. Pie contest. Phew! 2010 was a busy year. I'm now in the midst of turning my zine, A Commonplace Book of Pie, into a full length poetry/recipe collection while I pursue an MFA in poetry at the University of Washington.
