| Introduction | I'm a Sociology Professor at the University of Toronto. I write about gun violence, health disparities, and Hip Hop culture. My first book, Blowin' Up: Rap Dreams in South Central, is a long-term study of young men who are trying to "blow up" (make it) in the music industry. I'm currently working on a new book called, Gunshot, which tells the stories of a wounded generation of young people in Philadelphia's poorest neighborhoods. When I'm not writing or doing research, I enjoy training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. |
