Introduction Basically an outdoor person of outdoor activities having climbed/walked/run all 284 Munros (Scottish mountains over 3,000ft), climbed to Severe standard in all the main mountain areas of Britain, traversed the Cuillin Ridge on Skye and completed eleven Great Outdoor Challenges (coast to coast walks across Scotland). Began running in 1986 - aged 54 - and joined Longwood Harriers A.C. Twice ran sub 3 hour marathons in my sixties (fastest 2:53:04) to become British Champion in my age group. Three times M60 winner of the Yorkshire Three Peaks race. Topped the British Rankings in the Men's O/75 category over 800m, 5K, 10K and 10 miles in 2007, and feature in the all time World rankings over 800m (MV75), 1500m (MV75) and marathon (MV60). Won the inaugural English MV70 Fell Running Championship in 2004. Though no longer competing I'm still running, into my eighties, in the belief that running, more than anything else, keeps me young in body, mind and spirit. Someone said "You don't stop running because you get old, you get old because you stop running". Nevertheless, the older I get, the better I used to be!
