Introduction "I wanted to be a rain salesman, but there were no openings in the rain department." - John Engman Reach me at carrie dot allan at gmail dot com.
Interests Reading, writing, travel, cooking, painting, concocting cocktails, hanging out with animals (particularly dogs, lemurs, and leafy seadragons), collecting bellybutton lint (my own and that of amenable strangers), drinking good beer with dear friends until the urge to mumble "Man ... I love you guys" sets in, hammering and torching silver, snorkeling, playing softball, piracy on the high seas (as a possible alternate career).
Favorite Movies 8 1/2, Lone Star, Heat, The Remains of the Day, All About Eve, Rear Window, The Third Man, virtually anything by the Coen Bros. and anything that makes me quack with merriment
Favorite Music Tom Waits, Lucinda Williams, Lyle Lovett, Emmylou Harris, U2, the Indigo Girls, Leonard Cohen, Warren Zevon, Springsteen, Paul Simon, Zepellin, Iron & Wine, Van Morrison, Arcade Fire, Peter Gabriel, Nick Drake, Laurie Anderson, Ozomatli, Michael Franti, Cowboy Junkies, Richard Thompson, Sam Phillips, Martin Sexton, John Hiatt, Chris Whitley, Nina Simone, Patricia Barber
Favorite Books Straight Man, Birds of America, The Great Gatsby, Lord of the Flies, Waterland, Interpreter of Maladies, The Shell Collector, To Kill a Mockingbird ... love good nonfiction (The Botany of Desire is astounding); have a longstanding soft spot for Stephen King; love Richards Russo, Bausch, and Ford; and read a lot of poetry -- mostly contemporary (Jane Hirshfield, Terrance Hayes, Campbell McGrath), but Auden, Justice, and Larkin are my Holy Trinity.

Please come up with a more appropriate name for the ringtoe:

I don't wear ringtoes, so I feel unprepared to comment.
