Introduction Bobby Rivers interviewed Paul McCartney in London, had a cocktail with Lucille Ball in her home, got a soundbite from Bette Davis and hugs from Tom Hanks. While a VJ on VH1 in the late 80s, he had his own prime time celebrity talk show. The New York Times hailed Bobby Rivers as "a master interviewer with a gift for banter." He was an entertainment contributor on local New York City TV in the 90s. In 2000, ABC News made him Entertainment Editor and film critic for its weekday Lifetime TV show, LIFETIME LIVE. He was a Food Network host. From 2006 to 2008, he did morning radio with Whoopi Goldberg. In 2010, Steven Soderbergh included Bobby's interview work in his 2010 Spalding Gray feature, AND EVERYTHING IS GOING FINE. Some of Bobby's interview work is in the American Masters PBS special, RAUL JULIA: THE WORLD'S A STAGE. Bobby is in the 2020 documentary THE SIT-IN: HARRY BELAFONTE HOSTS THE TONIGHT SHOW. Bobby Rivers grew up in South Central L.A. He graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He did bit parts in two episodes of THE SOPRANOS. A classic film enthusiast, he now writes host scripts for cable's TCM (Turner Classic Movies).
