Introduction Just moved to Portland in May. In addition to cleaning raw meat off of machines, I'm working on an animated short, and currently engrossed in a comedy sketch writing class.
Interests Comics, Animation, filmmaking, writing comedy, yoga, playing the theremin, "lowbrow" art, various forms of vintage "trash culture".
Favorite Movies German expressionism, Universal horror movies form the 30s and 40s, film noir, drive-in schlock. The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, James Whales's Old Dark House, The Exterminating Angel, Fellini's 8 1/2, Brain From Planet Arous, Glen or Glenda?, Sunset Boulevard, The Asphalt Jungle, Rear Window, Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, the original Bucket of Blood, Spider Baby, Bob Clampett, Frank Tashlin, Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, Fleischer brothers Popeye and Superman cartoons, Dr Strangelove, Brazil, Sin City, The Incredibles...
Favorite Music Raymond Scott, Perez Prado, Carl Stalling, Link Wray, tiki bar shmaltz, rockabilly, instrumental surf, etc. Some albums: (the) Ventures In Space, the Rockin' Bones box set, The Stooges: Funhouse, The Cramps: Psychedelic Jungle, The Pixies: Doolittle, Impala: Square Jungle.
Favorite Books I ate up all the hardboiled anthologies that were put out recently-- Mammoth Book of Pulp Fiction, American Pulp, etc. I also read a lot of nonfiction-- Theremin: Ether Music and Espionage, The Magician's Reflection by Bill Whitcomb, Weirdo Deluxe, Fun With a Pencil by Andrew Loomis, Cartoon Animation by Preston Blair, EC comic's Shock and Crime Suspenstories, the Archie Goodwin era of Warren Pub's Creepy and Eerie from the mid to late sixties (did I mention being a geek??).
