Introduction | Most of my posts will be about food and cooking, but I also like to write about the natural world and art. Food is interesting, and many bloggers can write only about that subject, but I can't. Too many other things interest me. The "nature posts" are usually about Northern California, but should have something to interest you no matter where you live (almost everyone has trees and birds). I grew up in mid-Michigan eating a post-war midwestern diet: plenty of fast food, jello, crispy shell tacos, casseroles, and the like. It was all skillfully prepared, but came out of a fairly narrow cultural window. It wasn't until I moved to Berkeley to go to graduate school that my culinary world opened up. You can also find some of my writing at The Ethicurean and Eat Local Challenge. |
