Introduction Mark Johnstone is an artist, author, curator, educator and public art advocate. He is the principal for Media Arts Advocates, LLC, as a producer, writer and curator of documentary films, publications and exhibitions. He presently lives in Trinidad, Colorado, and previously lived in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho (2014-2020), and Hailey (ID) 2004-14, where he was Chair of the Arts Commission and served on the Planning and Zoning Commission. While living in Los Angeles from 1977-2004, he administered the Public Art Program for the City of Los Angeles for 8 years, was the curator of more than 80 exhibitions at galleries and museums in the United States and Europe, published over 350 reviews, essays and book contributions throughout Europe, North America, Australia and Japan, and served as Series Content Advisor for "The Photographic Vision," a 20 program award winning PBS series. Since 1988, he has worked as a public art liaison between artists, civic groups, corporations and city government. He was the public art adviser for the state of Idaho from 2012-2013 His photographs and artwork have been exhibited and placed in collections in the United States, France, Switzerland, Italy and Japan.
