Introduction Nyonya cuisine has been in my childhood upbringing. I am so blessed to be a fourth generation Nyonya, inheriting my families’ recipes. I was banned from the kitchen because of my curiosity as a child, but I spent many hours watching others and learning the different cooking techniques. Over the years and after frequent visits to Penang, I went through vigorous culinary training, ‘labours of love’, like the previous Nyonyas. I wrote a cookbook, Penang Nyonya Cuisine, and I would like to share with you some of my favourite recipes, and invite you to add comments. I would also love to hear from expatriates and please do not blame me if you get a little nostalgic, which should better titillate the appetite! Nyonya cuisine is compelling and it is my heart and soul food.
