About me

Location United States
Introduction My DOB (date of baptism) is 7 July 1950 at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago. I attended RC schools from first grade through a BA (1972), getting enough historical critical method, liturgical revisionism to express it in worship, and the ritual spiritual disembowelment called Vatican II to bail from the Brave New Church and Christianity itself in 1973. I became what is called a Righteous of the Nations in Orthodox Judaism, did an MA (1977) and PhD (1980) at the University of Iowa and took a job in Nebraska in 1983. I moved to Omaha in 1991, then met and married a woman who had bailed from LCMS in a similar reaction to the Seminex thing, leading to adult information class, reading Luther's 1520 treatises and the Book of Concord (Tappert), seeing where the problem and the answer really are, and making adult profession of faith in a WELS parish on 15 December 1996, where I later served as an elder, hence Past Elder. For several reasons, one being that confessional Lutheran bloggers are mostly LCMS, I became am LCMS member on 27 August 2006. First just ranting on other blogs, "Past Elder" began 22 February 2007, revising annual posts on church and civil calendar events, and whatever else.
