Introduction | I'm a middle-aged college professor who teaches courses in Communication and Women's Studies. My husband and I have the "two-body problem." His business is one place and my job is in another place 120 miles away. Full-time, tenured positions for college professors are at a premium these days and we need the benefits of my job...particularly the health insurance (reasons will be revealed along the way on this blog). I'll be sharing my musings about middle-age, work/life balance, academia and the state of higher education today, the benefits and everyday challenges of a long-distance marriage (including parenting, grandparenting, and daughtering from a distance), and all manner of miscellaneous. |
Interests | Political issues relating to gender equality (yes, I'm a feminist!), family history/genealogy, enjoy reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction including biographies of accomplished women and detective novels. |
Favorite Movies | Not a movie watcher in general, but enjoy an occasional chick-flick. Think "Hope Floats, " "Sleepless in Seattle, " "When Harry Met Sally." |
Favorite Music | 60's and 70's pop; Contemporary country. |
Favorite Books | Not enough room to list them all. Especially love women's biographies and history of women's struggles for equal rights. |
