Introduction Teacher, Ph.D. student, Father, Husband, Renaissance scholar, and not the least bit self-aggrandizing. My M.A. thesis was about sex and religion in a couple of Shakespeare plays, and I haven't strayed too far from those topics in a couple of years, nor do I have any plans to do so in the future, or at least until I finish my dissertation. I am married to a beautiful, talented, and somewhat cynical woman of startling intelligence and wit. Together, we have seven children (yes: seven. Yes, I am a Mormon, thanks) all of which have traditional English names. Yes, doing grad school with a large family is very difficult; we deal. I once ran a small but successful software company, which survived the internet boom of the late 1990s and I made some money. I went to culinary school. I wrote a children's novel which now rests quietly in a quiet corner of my hard drive. I became a master gardener. I lived in Brazil for two years. I have no tattoos. I like to ride steel-framed bikes and hike in the mountains. I use wood-cased pencils and fountain pens. I am 6'2". Hello? Yes, hello.
