| Introduction | I have been an avid traveler since my early childhood in rural Maine where my annual birthday jaunts usually involved a day trip with my family and friends to one of the many state parks in Maine. Some of my fondest memories growing up was hiking through the woods or scampering over the rocks on the beach and catching crabs or building forts of driftwood and broken traps that washed up on the shore. After graduation from the University of Maine at Orono, I worked as a reporter for a number of city newspapers. As an adult, I realized that I enjoyed walking along the isolated beaches in winter and exploring Maine's parks in the summer. |
